Once you enter treatment you will be offered regular appointments with a nurse in the team. Regular review meetings will take place throughout your treatment.
The treatments provided are:
- Specialist Specific Clinical Management (SSCM)
- MANTRA (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults)
- Individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced (CBT-e)
- Dietetic nutritional support and meal planning and management
- SEEDS this is part of a package for Severe and Enduring Eating Disorders patients
- FREED this is for First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders
- Education and information about eating disorders
- Physical health monitoring * we do not complete blood tests or ECGs these would need to be completed by your GP
The team work collaboratively with other services and can support hospital wards and other mental health services and GPs with management of eating disorder patients. We offer urgent assessments for patients who are admitted to hospitals within the catchment area.
Access this service
People can access services by obtaining a referral directly through your GP.
How this service support carers including friends and family
We recognise the importance of families and carers and where possible, we work closely with them. We understand talking about eating difficulties can be a sensitive issue to discuss and we offer time to talk to individuals and families. There are various partner groups that we work with that a carer, friend or family member can be referred to for further support and advice.

Keeping Safe Programme
The Keeping Safe programme is a psychoeducational intervention which aims to provide useful information about your eating disorder symptoms and encourage you to develop a plan to keep yourself safe whilst waiting for treatment.
Podcasts
The programme consists of a series of 7 podcasts and a workbook, with additional options for podcasts 2, 3 and 5. In each podcast, you will be signposted to additional information if you wish to learn more and given options about which podcasts to listen to next, depending on your symptoms. Please start with podcast one and feel free to opt to follow the signposts which best match your symptoms.
There is an additional podcast for family and friends in order to help them gain a better understanding of eating disorders and learn some tips on how best to support their loved ones with an eating disorder. Please feel free to signpost them to this (and additional workbook) if you think this might be helpful.

BEAT
The Suffolk Adult Eating Disorders team partners with the charity BEAT. We have packages available exclusively to us in the NHS with this charity and in addition they offer support for patients and their family members. For further information please review the PDF document for our exclusive packages with BEAT.
How to access the exclusive packages : In order for patients to gain access to the partner packages a referral from the GP is required, the patient will then be triaged by the Suffolk Adult Eating Disorders Team and assessed to ensure a referral is appropriate.
BEAT offers a wide range of support aside from the partner packages, and no referral is required for this. Patients and family members can access these services themselves. Information on these other services can be found on the following link Learn about eating disorders - Beat (beateatingdisorders.org.uk).
