The CECiLiA study
Evaluation of care (education) and treatment reviews (C(E)TR) for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Who we are looking for
Age five years and over.
Anyone who has attended a C(E)TR in the past 12 months including autistic people, people with a learning disability (including children, family carers, health education and social care professionals) and C(E)TR panel members.
Information about the study
Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews were started in 2014 to help to get autistic people and people with learning disabilities out of psychiatric hospitals and to prevent their admission to psychiatric hospitals. The CECiLiA study aims to determine whether Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews are helpful for people with learning disabilities and autistic people and their families, and what can be improved. It is a three-year study involving four stages.
What this study involves
We are focusing on stage one of the study which involves completing a national, co-designed survey about experiences of Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews either on-line or by paper. For those with communication difficulties the study team will assist using talking mats - which is a visual communication framework that supports people with communication difficulties to express their feelings and views.
