Overview
The GLAD study is a project set up to explore risk factors for depression and/or anxiety
About the study
The aim is to collect the psychological, medical, and genetic information of 40,000 people with experience of anxiety and depression. The study also wants to recruit 10,000 individuals without any history of mental disorder to help explore why some people do and some people don't become ill. This will help to better understand the role both our genes and environment play in the development of these illnesses. A deeper understanding of anxiety and depression, means we will be better equipped to help those who are experiencing them. In the UK, 1 in 3 people will experience symptoms of anxiety or depression during their lifetime, and treatment is only effective in about half of people, with symptoms often having devastating impacts on people's quality of life.
