Overview
The aim of the study is to understand how different approaches of peer support for children and young people with different mental health problems in different contexts generate personal recovery and clinical outcomes.
About the study
The study is looking at finding out how Peer Support works for different children and young people in mental services. To do this the study will measure how people recover when receiving peer support. The study will also explore how different people respond differently to the care they received based on factors such as age and where they live. Information will be collected and analysed across 4 work packages.
The study is currently recruiting to work package 1 &3
Work package 1: Service users are invited to take part in the study during their first few sessions with a support worker. After consent, routine data is collected from mental health outcomes Data is then collected quarterly over 24 months
Work package 3: The study team invite service and peer support leaders, support workers and service users to take part in an interview lasting approximately 1hour.
Who can take part?
- Individuals who are receiving care and support from children and young persons mental health services
- Aged 13-15years
- 16year +
What does this study involve?
Work package 1: invitations to the study are from individual peer support worker. To take part a referral will be sent to the study team within NSFT who will contact you and arrange a meeting either face to face or remotely. During the appointment the researcher will go through the information answer any questions. If you decide to take part, the researcher will go through the consent form. During your appointments with your peer support worker mental health measures will be collected routinely. These will be collected quarterly and sent to the study team. All data is anonymised.
Work package 3: Leaders and peer support workers who are interested in taking part will be contacted by the study team and will arrange an appointment to go through the information either remotely or face to face. sheet and receive consent.
How can I take part?
