New season of Mental Health and You podcast hits the airwaves
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s (NSFT) podcast is back for a new season, with new hosts and a refreshed sound.
Each month, the Mental Health and You podcast will feature guests from across NSFT’s services to give their insight on different mental health topics.
The first episode of the series, which was released last month, focuses on older people’s mental health, including dementia, isolation and loneliness. The team from Carlton Court Hospital, near Lowestoft, talked about what they are doing to help those with mental health conditions, as well as the support they provide family and carers. There was also advise from NSFT’s Recovery College about the support they provide people with dementia.
The most recent episode, which is available now, explores the mental health of veterans and how NSFT is supporting those who have been in the armed forces. Vicki Bailey, from NSFT’s Veterans Integrated Service, talks about the different support groups available and why they have been ‘lifesaving’.
The podcast is hosted by members of NSFT’s Communication and Engagement Team, Nina Green and Gay Webster, and new episodes will be released on the third Wednesday of each month.
Nina said: “The podcast is a great way to get our experts together and provide a deep and, sometimes personal, insight to the mental health matters that affect many people every day. We hope that listeners will benefit from the podcasts, whether that be through the advice offered, knowing the services NSFT has to offer, or developing a greater understanding of mental health conditions.
Gay said: “We are excited for the series ahead and future episodes include men’s mental health, how our Mother and Baby Unit is supporting new mums, and also careers in mental health.”
