Find out more about mental health services in Norfolk and Suffolk

People interested in mental health services will have the chance to find out more and have their say at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s (NSFT) AGM next month.

Service users, families, carers, members of the public and organisations are invited to join Trust staff, the Trust Chair and the executive team at the  Annual General Meeting and Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) on Thursday, 10 October.

The event, which will run from 12-4pm at The Carnegie, Cage Lane, Thetford (IP24 2DS), is an  opportunity to hear Trust Chair  Zoë Billingham and the trust’s executive and non-executive teams talk  about the improvements NSFT has made and the trust’s priorities for the coming year.

There will be opportunities to meet teams and ask questions, and staff will be on hand to talk about projects and services under NSFT’s four large-scale change programmes – improving care, health, value and culture. The main theme will be how services users, carers and families are involved in this important work .

Staff and governors will also be keen to talk about how service user, carer and family participation is helping NSFT become a safer, kinder and better organisation which is focused on the putting people at its heart.

There will be stalls including information about the benefits of becoming a member of the trust and about standing as a governor, the  work of Recovery College and how it benefits the community, and how the trust is working to help veterans.

Chair Zoë Billingham said: “Our event is more than just our annual general meeting. We are always keen to engage with people who use or have used our services as well as our members and local communities. It not only allows the chance to talk about the progress we have made over the year and what we want to focus on for the future but to hear feedback on that ad to engage with service users and the community. The AGM is a great opportunity for our teams to showcase their services and chat to those who come along.

The event will open at 12pm when visitors can look round the information stands and talk to staff. The AGM and AMM will start at 2.30pm. This will include a video of work over the past year, a round-up from Chief Executive Officer Caroline Donovan and Zoë, and of course a chance for the public to ask questions.

CEO Caroline Donovan said: “It is important that service users, cares, families and the wider community feel that we are listening to them and acting on what they tell us. I believe we have made good progress as a Trust this year and this event is another way we can build towards the future with the people who use our services at the heart of everything we do.”
