Two more teams awards LD and autism kitemark
Two more teams have achieved NSFT’s Learning Disability and Autism Friendly Kitemark, following in the footsteps of the Recovery College.
The accreditation scheme, which was launched at the Trust’s Hear Me, See Me Learning Disability and Autism Conference last year, has been developed to ensure that people with a learning disability and/or autism are able to access the services they need.
The Forensic South Community and the LD CAMHS teams have completed their Bronze Award.
Team manager Gabrielle Hayes received the award with Greenlight Champion Rebecca Loveland from Kirsty Wilkinson, one of the experts by experience involved in the judging.
Michelle Andrews, Assistant Learning Disability Practitioner and Suffolk Greenlight Lead, said: “The panel was very impressed that, on the back of receiving Reasonable Adjustment and Easy Read Training, the team had gone over and above the criteria by checking back on service user records. They wanted to make sure any reasonable adjustments and communication preferences were recorded on Lorenzo.”
The team is now looking to complete the criteria for the Silver Award.
Amy Osbourne, Manager of the LD CAMHS Team received the award on behalf of the team. She impressed the panel by being able to sign “hello my name is” and demonstrating the team is 100% on target with its work.
Any team which would like to sign up for the Kitemark can register interest by emailing LDandAKiteMark@nsft.nhs.uk. Teams will be put forward to receive Reasonable Adjustment and Easy Read Training and receive a resource folder.
The Sunflower Kitemark is award to teams who can demonstrate their positive approach to providing the right support to anyone with and LD or autism. They will be assessed by a Green Light Champion and a panel of experts by experience.
