Come and meet our experts by experience for Learning Disability Week

The Experts by Experience group at Suffolk's Learning Disability and Autism Specialist Services smile in the sunshine.

Learning Disability and Autism Experts by Experience have organised a special meet and greet event to mark Learning Disability Week (15-19 June).

The group, which is linked to Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s (NSFT) Learning Disability and Autism Service in Suffolk, has planned a coffee and chat date for Friday 19 June to be held at Kesgrave Community Centre, 2-4pm.

Members of the public and staff from NSFT are invited to go along, find out more about what services offer to support people with LD or autism who use mental health services.

As part of the afternoon, there will be a raffle of cakes entered by NSFT staff into a Great LD Bake Off, with money raised going towards future projects.

Assistant Practitioner Michelle Andrews, who is Greenlight Lead for Suffolk and is based with West Suffolk LD and Autism Community Team at Bury St Edmunds, said she hoped the event would showcase some of the great work the experts by experience are doing to help shape services for the benefit of those using them.

“We warmly welcome people to come and see what the LD Specialist Pathway in NSFT do and talk to our experts by experience with lived experience of learning disability and or autism.

"Their knowledge, perspective, and understanding of what truly works are invaluable to ensure co-production and help us deliver the best possible support to our service users, we are proud and privileged to have them on board helping us to shape a service and trust that is person centred, informed and compassionate”
