Carer information
A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend, who needs help because of their illness, disability, addiction or a mental health problem and cannot cope without their support.
The care they give is unpaid. Carers play an important role in supporting people and it is important that they feel supported and know that they can ask for help with their caring role if they need to.
In Suffolk there are several organisations that provide advice and support to adult carers and young carers. Some also provide workshops, groups, drop-in sessions, courses, advocacy, free counselling and more.
