NSFT awarded thousands of pounds in NHS Chargepoint Accelerator Scheme

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) has been awarded almost £69,000 as part of the NHS Chargepoint Accelerator Scheme.
The Department of Transport and the Department for Health and Social Care announced the scheme on Monday 13 July. The initiative is an investment of £8 million from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles for the installation of on-site electric vehicle chargepoints to support electrification of the NHS fleet.
A total of £68,870 has been awarded to NSFT to install a total of 18 electric charging points across sites in Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Kesgrave.
The funding will deliver reductions in fuel and maintenance costs that can be redirected into front line care, as well as the wider social benefits from reduced emissions and improved air quality.
Jason Hollidge, NSFT's Chief Finance Officer, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this funding which will ultimately benefit our service users. The cost savings will be redirected to front line care to provide safer, kinder and better services, whilst the investment also supports our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our activities and deliver sustainable healthcare."
Nationally the scheme will deliver savings of around £130 million in fuel and maintenance costs over the next 25 years with the wider societal benefits from reduced emissions and improved air quality, valued at a further £93 million.
