By royal appointment
Two NSFT staff members had the privilege of attending the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 6 May 2026.
Elaine Thrower, Interim Director of Infection Prevention & Control and Physical Health, was invited to the prestigious event by the Lord Chamberlian having been nominated by the Executive team.
Held on the third anniversary of their coronation, King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in attendance, accompanied by the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
During the afternoon, Elaine was fortunate enough to be introduced to His Royal Highness, the Duke of Gloucester. Elaine said: "I am extremely honoured to have been nominated to attend such a prestigious event which was attended by a wide of range guests from various public sectors and voluntary bodies.
"The afternoon was delightful, with opportunity to see members of the Royal family close up and to enjoy the very beautiful grounds, listening to the two Royal Marine Bands who played throughout the afternoon and to see the Guard of the Yeoman who play a central ceremonial role at Garden parties, a truly memorable occasion”.
Elaine was invited to name a companion to attend the Garden Party with her and nominated Rebecca George, IPAC and Physical Health Business Support, who has worked in various administrative roles at NSFT for many years, most recently providing significant and consistent support to Infection Prevention and Control and Physical Health team.
