Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) has an exciting opportunity for eight members of the public with an interest in mental health to join its Council of Governors.

Nominations close soon, so act now if you would like to stand for election to help shape services provided by NSFT in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Being a Governor provides you with a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic debate and the overall direction of the Trust on behalf of its members, service users, carers and the communities it serves.

Jean Clark, Trust Secretary, said: “Our Governors play a vital role at NSFT by representing the views of local people, hosting important public engagement events and holding the Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board.

“Elected Governors come from a variety of backgrounds and share an interest in mental wellbeing and a desire to help the Trust to develop and thrive for the benefit of the people who use our services.”

Along with attending four Council meetings a year, you will have lots of opportunities to get more involved, such as through sub committees, members events, governor visits to services and training sessions.

The Council comprises 23 Governors elected by Trust Members and seven appointed by partner organisations. Elected Governors serve three-year terms, starting on 1 February.

The seats up for election this year are:

  • four Public Governors in Norfolk
  • three Public Governors in Suffolk
  • one Service User Governor in Norfolk
  • one Staff Governor
