The project is testing a new programme called HOPEFUL; a workbook designed to increase hope, wellbeing, and goal setting, with the support of a coach.

 

About the study

The Looking Forward Project is a research study for young women aged 16-25 who are currently or recently not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) in East Anglia, Sussex, and Kent. The project is testing a new programme called HOPEFUL, designed to increase hope, wellbeing, and goal setting. Participants are randomly allocated either to receive HOPEFUL with support from a coach or to continue with usual support and access HOPEFUL after 12 months. The study involves completing questionnaires with a researcher at the start, 4 months, and 12 months, with a £20 voucher offered at each time point. Who can take part?

  • Aged 16-25
  • Identify as a woman
  • Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) for the last month or for a period of one month within the last 12 months.
  • Based in East Anglia, Sussex and Kent

 

What does this study involve?

The study involves meeting with a research assistant at three time points to complete some questionnaires. If you are allocated to the HOPEFUL together group, you will complete the workbook over 16 weeks and meet your study coach who will support you with this. Whether you meet the research assistant and your coach in person or virtually is dependent on where you are based and your preference.
