Ipswich Older People’s CMHT celebrates re-accreditation
The Ipswich Older People’s Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) has successfully achieved re-accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Accreditation for Community Mental Health Services (ACHSM) programme until July 2029.
The accreditation recognises high standards of care and service delivery and follows a rigorous review process that began in November 2025. The team was required to provide evidence against more than 100 standards, demonstrating not only that these standards are met, but that they are embedded in everyday practice.
Following a detailed self and peer review process, staff and managers met with an expert review panel before receiving the news they had successfully retained their accreditation.
The review panel praised the team’s positive culture and collaborative approach. Feedback included:
- · “The offer of support for the staff team is impressive, and it was clear the team feel ‘psychologically safe’ within their roles.”
- · “There is a strong ethos in providing carers with relational support.”
- · “The team management were described as approachable and open and work was described as a ‘team effort’.”
Community Team Manager, Micheala Langley, said: “This is a significant accomplishment and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and compassion that each member of the team brings to their role every single day. Their commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care has been recognised through this accreditation, and it is something we should all be incredibly proud of.
“For our service users, carers and families, this recognition provides reassurance that they are receiving care from a team whose dedication, professionalism and high standards have been independently recognised. It reinforces their confidence in the quality of our service and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care. Most importantly, it reflects our commitment to continually improving the support and experience of everyone who relies on our services.”
