Public Governor - Carol Read

Carol Read in a coat, indoors, smiling in a selfieI aim to grow into a leadership role by contributing to innovative projects presented to the Trust Governors and becoming a voice for the local community.

With my background in both adult general nursing and mental health nursing, I bring strong expertise in key areas. Skills include transferable abilities such as communication, empathy, listening, and caring.

Caring is at the core of healthcare and social services, requiring a balance of emotional intelligence with clinical expertise. Competencies in a clinical setting include basic nursing skills and how to approach people with mental health diagnoses.

Although retired, I continue to add value to the lives of vulnerable, unwell people within the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust. I believe in becoming an advocate to navigate changes and foster innovation, leading to better health outcomes and improved patient and client satisfaction.

Shared values can be effective, adaptable, empathetic and transparent within the role of a Governor. Those values can nurture and equip a new generation to think faster, be bolder in change, anticipate the future and build new concepts.
