Volunteering

Our volunteers are worth their weight in gold and we appreciate how they give up their time to help us and the people we care for.

Volunteers offer so much to our services and those that use them. Volunteering in return offers vital experience for those wanting to gain life and work skills. This can include boosting confidence, making friends, adding to a CV and a stepping stone into paid employment.

Here are some of the roles that we offer, please have a look, to help you work out what role would suit you best.

Once you have an idea of what you would like to do, please email volunteer@nsft.nhs.uk

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, aged 18 and over.

15 steps support - short-term role

People with lived experience of mental health services are being asked to volunteer with NSFT to help implement NHS England’s 15 Steps Challenge.

The 15 Steps Challenge involves staff, people with lived experience and others working together to identify improvements that can be made to enhance the service-user experience.

Volunteer co-ordinator Sarah Briggs said: “The 15 Steps Challenge helps to understand service users’ first impressions more clearly and how these impact on their experiences of care. We are looking for a small number of volunteers to support the running of these challenges.”

Applicants need to be over 18 and have lived experience of mental health services or experience of providing support to people accessing mental health services.

This is a short-term volunteering role, which can be added to an existing volunteer role or could be a one-off opportunity. There will be a recruitment process and training provided and volunteers will be provided out of pockets expenses. They will also be supported by a volunteer supervisor and the Voluntary Services Co-ordinator.

Anyone interested should email volunteer@nsft.nhs.uk.
