NSFT launches new guardian service for staff feedback

Staff at Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT) can get confidential support and advice from a new helpline launched today.

The new Guardian Service aims to help create a more open culture, where employees feel empowered to express themselves and to speak up.

The launch comes after feedback from staff that they often have problems at work that they struggle to resolve. These include issues with colleagues or managers or safety concerns about service users.

Every member of staff will have access to a 24/7 hotline, where they can share their concerns and problems with non-judgemental, independent advisors, confidentially and anonymously. If the issue is not resolved, the Guardian can arrange an in-person meeting, on or off-site, or continue the conversation by phone or email.

NSFT director of people Cath Byford said: “We see this new service for staff as another way to help transform our culture and encourage better staff engagement to create a fit-for-purpose organisation with effective governance and leadership.

“From raising safety concerns to contributing to our recent Big Conversation, we are listening to what our employees have to say so that we can take positive action to make the trust a better place.”
