More service user involvement in NSFT's Quality Improvement projects

“The only way to make successful changes is to listen to service users”

The new People Participation Coordinator with NSFT's Quality Improvement (QI) team has spoken about the importance of involving patients and carers in making positive changes .

Gemma Browne joined NSFT in late November from Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.

In her new role, she will be responsible for increasing the number of QI projects which involve service users and carers . The aim is for every project to include elements of participation, ensuring that any changes made meet the needs of people using NSFT’s services .

“We want to make sure that every single QI project has service user and carer involvement. It's the only way to make successful changes and for services to evolve" said Gemma.

“I will be working across Norfolk and Suffolk to help identify areas which could benefit from increased service user focus . I'll also be offering one-to-one support to service users and carers who take part in QI projects - making sure they have the tools they need so that their experience is a positive one .

“I am looking forward to working with service users and carers as I enjoy hearing other people’s stories and understanding their journeys . It’s also important to me to make a difference.
