Compassion in Action Award - Clinical - finalists 2022

This award is for an individual who is recognised as going above and beyond the requirements of their ‘day jobs’ in pursuit of high-quality service user care and / or the delivery of an excellent level of support to their colleagues / teams.

These are the people known by their colleagues as committed and passionate, who go about their job in a professional manner, giving their support generously to those around them and who will often be the last people to broadcast their successes.

Winner

Kathryn Barrow
Acute LD Service Manager
Walker Close, Ipswich

When one team member’s husband was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2020, Kathryn went out of her way to offer support with coffee, a chat and a door which was always open. Supporting the team member to work from home during the pandemic, Kathryn offered weekly one-to-one contact ensuring that she felt part of the team in as many ways as possible.

Kathryn went above and beyond to offer her help, including doing a midnight charity walk for MND, raising more than £500.

While Kathryn has now moved on to a new role within the Learning Disabilities team, the team wanted to highlight her unwavering compassion and generally how amazing she is.
