Holistic approach involving NSFT wins silver at HSJ Partnership Awards

A team which brings together mental health and primary care nurses, therapists and prescribers has won a national award for its holistic approach to support with falls.

Woodbridge Holistic Assessment Team (WHAT) offers an early intervention, multidisciplinary service for those who are anxious about falling, have had their first fall or had a change in their balance.

The project is a joint venture between Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Optum health management company and Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board.

NSFT’s Ruth Mills, Suffolk Psychology and Therapies Lead, attended the awards ceremony at Evolution in Battersea on 24 March with partners, and was delighted to be awarded silver in the Data Integration Project of the Year section.

She said: “This project developed from the One Team Leadership Programme. I have been lucky to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group of people across the integrated health and social care system, together making a positive impact on the health of the local community in Woodbridge.

“Mental Health colleagues in Wellbeing and Primary care have recently come on board, which is very exciting.”

Cath Byford, deputy chief executive and chief people officer at NSFT, said: “This is a wonderful example of collaborative success with partners to improve the health and care we provide for our patients, their carers and families. I appreciate your dedication to going above and beyond to provide kinder, safer and better care.”

The team also recently received the Living all the Values Award from the Ipswich and East Suffolk Alliance, presented by the High Sheriff.
