NSFT is organising
its very own Pride celebration by creating a virtual video with the key message
Everyone is Welcome.
The idea is that staff, service users
and carers will take colourful Pride selfies or record Pride video
selfies of up to 20 seconds and send the clips to firstname.lastname@example.org by 7 July.
Karn Purvis, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Lead, said: “We want to give eveyone something to celebrate
and, while we may still be social distancing, we can still come together to
make the world a slightly better place.”
He is hoping the
videos will be really colourful and bright. “If you want to hold up a sign
saying Everyone is Welcome that would be perfect, you can also use rainbows,
Pride flags and the NHS Rainbow Badges. We want it to be a great way to
show our support for each other as well as a message to all our service users,
carers and staff that they’re a visible, welcome and vibrant part of our
He said he was
looking forward to seeing images from staff, service-users and carers. “We are
proud of our LGBT+ people.”
A consent form needs to be sent with the video to say you are happy to
be included in the public video.
Look out for the
start of Virtual Pride tonight (June 26) as the NHS launches a series of events across
the country. “We can’t wait to be a special part of these,” said Karn.
