 What help do you offer?

​We are a 16-bed acute admission ward offering assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, if you are, or deemed to be, experiencing acute mental illness and your risks cannot be managed safely in the community.

 What support do you offer carers, family and friends?

​Where possible we encourage service users to maintain relationships with family and friends. With your consent, relatives and carers are involved in your care and are invited to attend your weekly review meeting. 

Discharge planning is done in consultation with your family or carer. We can also offer support to carers and refer people for carers assessments.


 Referral to the service

​How can people get referred to this service? 

Following your assessment, if you need to be admitted then a formal request for admission is made to the crisis team. 

What to expect when referred

You are admitted to the ward for anything from a few days to a few weeks including a period of rehabilitation. We adopt a multi-disciplinary approach which includes nursing, medical, occupational therapy and psychology staff who all work closely with you to ensure your needs are met and that your stay is as short as possible. 

You have a review each week with the team and this can include your family member, carer or advocate. Your community nurse is involved in your care while you are on the ward and maintains contact with you throughout your stay.

Yare Ward has disabled access but no disabled toilet facility.
