 What help do you offer?

We are a 17 bed acute admission ward offering assessment and treatment if you are or deemed to be experiencing acute mental illness and your risks cannot be managed safely in the community. ​

 How do I get help from your service?

Following your assessment and agreement that you need to be admitted, a formal request for admission is made to the Crisis Team and discussed with the bed management team or on duty senior service lead.

 What hours is your service available?

We operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.​

 What can I expect from you?

Length of admission to our ward is from a few days to a couple of weeks.  We adopt a multidisciplinary approach which includes nursing, medical, occupational therapy and psychology staff who all work closely with you to ensure your needs are met and that your stay is as short as possible. 

You have a review every week with our team and this can include your family member, carer and/or advocate.  Your community nurse is also involved in your care while you are staying with us and maintains contact with you throughout your stay. ​

Access and facilities

Off-road parking is available immediately outside of the ward and is free of charge.

Wheelchair access is provided and disabled toilet facilites are available in Grebe House.

 What support do you offer carers including friends and family?

With your consent, relatives and carers are involved in your care and we invite them to attend your weekly review meeting.  Planning for your discharge is done in consultation with your family or carer.​
