Suffolk Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)

 What help do you offer?

​An age inclusive Community-based Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People and Adults presenting with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (children only) and related diagnoses

 How do I get help from your service?

​Services are accessed through our single point of assessment – AAT, on 0300 123 1334. We accept professional referrals from GPs, school nurses, health visitors and social workers.

 What hours is your service available?

​The core hours for community services are 9:00 – 17:00. However we do offer extended hours of operation for this service as part of our in reach to support mealtime planning.

 What can I expect from you?

​The aim of the service is that children and young people who have an eating disorder have access to timely, integrated high quality, multi-disciplinary mental health services to ensure effective assessment, treatment and support for them and their families.

This will involve holistic service user-centred treatment, including psychiatric care, physiotherapy, specialist nursing care, psychological therapies, specialist dietetics and nutrition, placing the service user’s needs at the centre of a specialist treatment pathway of care, supporting the service user, their families, carers and supporters towards recovery and improving quality of life and health – physical, psychological and social.

​The Eating Disorder service is a county-wide service but is delivered from two main sites: in West Suffolk at Bury North IDT, Newmarket Hospital, Exning Road CB8 7JG / in East Suffolk at Coastal IDT, Walker Close Ipswich IP3 8LY.

 What conditions do you treat?

​Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (children only) and related diagnoses. Co-morbidities will be jointly treated with IDT Pathways.

 What support do you offer carers including friends and family?

​Systemic family engagement, involvement in care planning, carers support and groups, formal Carers Assessments.
