We have started work on an exciting multi-million pound project to develop new facilities which will further improve safety and quality at the Hellesdon Hospital site in Norwich.
Our Trust has been awarded £38m in Government funding for the redevelopment work. Although our plans are at an early stage, we propose to use the money to build a state-of-the-art unit to which four of our existing, outdated wards (Glaven, Thurne, Waveney and Yare) will relocate.
A fifth, brand new 16-bed ward will also be created so that we can increase our capacity and reduce the number of patients travelling outside of the area for treatment. In total, the five wards will provide 80 beds – 15 more than we currently have.
The project will significantly improve the environment in which our service users receive care, leading to better clinical outcomes. We expect work to be complete in late 2023.
These pages will keep you updated with the latest news as the development progresses.
NSFT is inviting service users and carers with recent experience of our inpatient wards to help us deliver an innovative project which will further improve quality and safety at our Hellesdon Hospital site in Norwich.
We want to work closely with our service users, carers, staff and partners to further develop the plans so that we can make the best use of this opportunity and ensure it brings the best outcomes for our service users.
Initial workshops have taken place, and more will follow.
