Radio and television presenter Helen McDermott will speak about her personal experiences of mental health at a wellbeing event in Norwich later this month.
The BBC Radio Norfolk presenter will be speaking at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s Wellbeing Wednesday event at The Forum on 31 October.
The event, which takes place at The Forum from 1pm to 7pm, aims to raise awareness of mental health issues while attempting to remove some of the stigma associated with mental health.
Helen, who has spoken openly about her depression and breakdown in the past, said: "It's estimated that one In three of us could suffer some sort of mental illness in a lifetime.
"It can have a devastating effect on not only the sufferer but the rest of the family too. With help and support, you can come through that dark tunnel and events like the Wellbeing Wednesday will demonstrate that you are not alone."
Events at Wellbeing Wednesday will include a number of speakers, health advice forthe whole family, business-focused tips on wellbeing at work, the chance to speak confidentially with mental health experts, a health focused art exhibition, a tai-chi demonstration and tips on ‘mood food’.
Those attending can also take part in the Lunch Punch, a stress-busting exercise session with Norwich-based Youtube fitness sensations the Lean Machines, which aims to demonstrate the power of exercise when trying to combat stress.
The event at The Forum in Norwich links to a partner event which is being held simultaneously at University Campus Suffolk in Ipswich.
