Recruitment of Chief Executive postponed until the New Year

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has made the decision to postpone the recruitment process for the Chief Executive until the New Year.

Final interviews for this post were due to take place next week, with the successful applicant to be announced this month.

Unfortunately, during the recruitment process a number of candidates have withdrawn due to finding alternative employment or changes in their personal circumstances. To enable the Trust to make a successful appointment, it is essential to have a strong shortlist.

Gary Page, Chair, said: “I have decided with the interview panel and non-executive directors, to postpone this process. To run a rigorous recruitment process it is critical to be able to benchmark the candidates against each other, without a strong shortlist with diverse backgrounds this was not possible. This decision is not a reflection on the quality of the candidates individually.”

Andrew Hopkins has agreed to continue as the Acting Chief Executive with the support of the board. The recruitment process will recommence in January 2014.

Aidan Thomas, former Chief Executive handed in his resignation in June 2013 after four years in post. Andrew Hopkins Director of Finance and Deputy CEO took over from Aidan on an acting basis from 1 July 2013.
