A special day dedicated to the invaluable work of family carers is being held in October in Martlesham, Suffolk.
The event - which is hosted by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust with support from charity Suffolk Family Carers - is aimed at carers of individuals who experience difficulties and challenges associated with mental illness.
The event will take place on 12 October between 10am and 4pm at St Michael's Church Centre on Martlesham Heath and is open to anyone interested in attending across east Suffolk.
Tara Brown is acting modern matron at Woodlands mental health facility on the Heath Road hospital site in Ipswich. She said: “The purpose of our family carers day is to provide information regarding what we as a service offer and how these services can be accessed, as well as provide sign posting to other agencies and resources within the community.”
The morning will comprise of four short presentations, which will be repeated from 1:30pm. Both sessions include:
Tara added: “In addition to our speakers carers can pop along to visit our ‘market stalls’ which will be filled with information about helping carers maintain their own wellbeing while looking after someone else.”
