Health Minister Norman Lamb said he was impressed by the passion and vision of our Trust's youth services during an official visit to the Trust's Child, Family and Young People's services on 28 May.
"Mr Lamb was interested to hear that other Trusts including Maudesley, Birmingham and Liverpool are actively looking into developing youth services and that they will be visiting us to see how we do it," said Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Jon Wilson.
"He shares our belief that the youth service needs, as the first of its kind, to be fully evaluated and researched in order to establish which aspects work and which need improving, We need to see if the service fully addresses the needs of young people and to understand whether specific interventions are effective. Over time, the service will evolve according to the findings of this research but some initial investment is needed to ensure that it happens."
Mr Lamb also discussed local and national issues around eating disorders and expressed interest in the Australian 'headspace' model, which the youth council are keen to develop.
