Farewell to former Trust PAT dog Pongo
It is with regret that we have to inform you that Pongo - the much loved former Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog - whose furry face was a familiar sight around Hellesdon Hospital until last year, has died.

His owner, former Strategic Estates Administrator, Claire Sumners (nee Oberli-Robinson), said “I lost my best four-pawed friend, confident, master of all he surveyed and soul-mate. Pongo was the best dog a person could have. He was a dignified soul full of fun and larks and I take solace that his time as a PAT dog helped make such a difference to so many service users at Hellesdon Hospital.”

Let your pet follow in Pongo's pawprints

Voluntary Services is always looking for animal recruits and is hoping that the rewarding time Pongo had during his time here will inspire other pet owners to nominate their playful pooches and cuddly cats to become members of the scheme.

Contact with an animal is especially beneficial for people with mental health problems and can alleviate depression by giving them something to look forward to. To find out more information regarding this, please email Adam Chilvers:
