Carers forum proves a great success

More than 100 people attended the Norwich Carers Forum at The City Academy on 31 October.

The forum's line up of guest speakers included Lady Dannatt, psychiatrist and author Russell Razzaque, Carers Trust national lead, Ruth Hannan, and Norwich South MP Simon Wright.

Charge Nurse and organiser, Howard Tidman, said: "It was the largest attendance for any of our forums so far and everyone is delighted with how the day went.

“There were speeches, talks and debates, along with 17 Trust and voluntary organisation stalls, and even a nail bar and First Aid courses.

“We were extremely honoured to have such an esteemed and influential group of speakers and lucky they were all able to attend all at one time."

Subjects at the forum included diagnosis and the use labelling in psychiatry, spiritual release in psychiatry, getting the best from mental health medication and first person service user experiences.

The forum was organised in conjunction with the Carers Agency Partnership.

The Trust’s Wellbeing Service and  Recovery College also hosted information stalls at the event, along with voluntary  organisations including Mind, Crossroads East Anglia, Red Cross, and Young Adult Carers.
