The Compass Schools are a partnership between Norfolk County Council Children’s Services and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. The Compass Schools offer high quality educational and therapeutic interventions to hard-to-reach young people who would otherwise be placed in residential schools. The ethos of the Compass Schools is to engage young people and families who have previously found it difficult to access mainstream education and mental health services. There is funding for up to 30 full time pupils at any one time across three school sites; Compass Belton, Compass Lingwood, and Compass Pott Row.
We have an admissions process to discuss referrals. This process involves discussions between Children's Services, the Short Stay School for Norfolk, and the clinical team at the Compass.
The Compass School are open from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
The Compass team includes teaching and therapeutic staff who work creatively to provide a flexible, and individually tailored, response to the needs of pupils in order to prepare them for reintegration into mainstream school. The culture of our centre is inclusive and we work on young people’s strengths using an integrated approach to education and therapy.

The majority of pupils exhibit mental health difficulties, attachment difficulties, and associated difficulties with emotional and behavioural regulation.
Parents and carers are fully involved in the work and have easy access to therapists and teachers alike.
The Compass Schools are not an emergency service. People already being seen within the service should call the above numbers during working hours.
