Community Eating Disorders Service (CEDS) West Norfolk

 What help do you offer?

​If you are referred onto our service we will begin by doing an initial assessment to see what type of help you need and whether that help would be with our team or a different team, if it has been determined through the assessment that you have an eating disorder or difficulties around maintaining a healthy weight we will offer a variety of different interventions depending on your individual needs, for example, Family Therapy, individual therapy with one of our therapists, this could be cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT),motivational enhancement therapy (MET), we will monitor your weight to see how you are doing as well as helping to support the family at meal times if they are particularly difficult along with a variety of other interventions.

 How do I get help from your service?

​If you or someone you know is worried about your nutritional intake, weight or believe you have an eating disorder, you must first see your GP who can then refer on to us at Thurlow House, Goodwins Road, Kings Lynn, PE30 5PD.

 What hours is your service available?

​Our service is open Monday to Friday 9-5, if you need help urgently please attend your local A&E.

 What can I expect from you?

​You can expect that all your information will be treated with complete confidentiality within the team and no information will be given to other agencies without your consent unless there are concerns around your safety or the safety of others.

 How can I contact you?

​01553736011 is the number for Thurlow House but the normal process would be to get in touch with your GP, all the relevant numbers for our service will be on the letter that we would send out to you to let you know about your assessment date.

 What conditions do you treat?

​Our service treats anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and other eating disorders dependent upon assessment.

 What support do you offer carers including friends and family?

​We offer Family Therapy to parents and carers as well as an evening parent and carer support group, we also sign post families and friends to other agencies or teams that we feel they will benefit from.

 I need help urgently! Who do I call?

​If there is an emergency please contact A&E or your GP for advice, for an urgent assessment your GP will send us a referral and if we deem this to be urgent then we would start the assessment process within 24 hours.
